As a company we feel that those of us who enjoy our health have a responsibility to those who don’t. Over the past 10 years Neal Mackenzie, the company’s managing director, has run a half marathon every other year for various charities, culminating in the Great North Run last September. Whilst wearing out several pairs of running shoes he has also managed to raise about £15,000 some £12,500 of which has gone to Cancer research. In 2005 Michael Hardy sponsored 3 local ladies who climbed Kilimanjaro to raise money for a cancer ward in the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford, 2 of the 3 ladies made it to the top and photos of the two shivering and exhausted climbers holding a Michael Hardy for sale sign takes pride of place in the company’s board room, our contribution was, £3,500.
